![]() If you visit California's Gold Rush Country in Spring, you'll feel like you're in the Land of Oz. Bright green hills roll out before your eyes. Daffodils and California's Western Redbud bloom, and then come those golden California poppies! And along with all this incredible natural wonder, our storytelling community is also popping and blooming in Spring! Last night the Mariposa Storytelling Festival began, and early this AM, THIS storyteller is hitting the road to get there! I'll wind that narrow twisting Highway 49,the Golden Chain Highway that connects our region. And I'm anxious to hear stories told by some of my favorite nationally known tellers: Donald Davis, David Novak, Lyn Ford and Angela Lloyd. Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, we'll hear Patrick Ball's lilting Celtic harp, along with his well-told tales. Then I'll get to witness a new teller: Michigan's Laura Pershin Raynor. And I'll be there to tell festival-goers about storytelling in our region and the National Storytelling Network! Tomorrow, Sunday Marc 10th, this roster of wonderful storytellers will gather in Yosemite National Park for a delightful concert. So, get yourself up here to witness incredible storytelling! And if you can't make it this year, then mark your calendar NOW for the 2nd weekend in March....The Mariposa Storytelling Festival! ~ bz smith, NSN's regional representative for California's Mother Lode/Sierra Nevada Region
