MaryGay Ducey, The Queen Mother of the California Storytelling Movement.

Since the mid-1970's MaryGay has been a great  performer of  the American Storytelling Renaissance. She has also been the nurturer and cajoler of many a teller. As a mentor and coach, she is impeccable. As a Festival Platform teller she holds audiences in a warm embrace, all with a wink and a smile just for the little kid sitting in the third row. And she never misses a beat! She is focused and devoted to bringing one story at a time to our hearts.

Many years ago MaryGay made a choice to be, first and foremost, a COMMUNITY STORYTELLER. A graduate of the prestigious UC Berkeley Library School (now the School of Information). MaryGay worked in the Oakland Public Library as one of their lead Children's Librarians. Serving diverse neighborhoods in a culturally rich city. She is a founder of the Bay Area Storytelling Festival, which launched the region's storytelling movement. For 30 festivals she served as artistic director carefully selecting the best tellers in the world to come to her own homeland and tell stories to her own neighbors.

MaryGay shares great insight into the depth of the Power of Storytelling. She shares her strength of knowledge and experience helping children and parents gain access to great literary works to enrich their lives.

Since they're sharing the stage, what does MaryGay have to say about Tim?
"Tim is a contemporary, hip storyteller... original and authentic. His style is gracefully conversational with an ironic sensibility that gives his work depth and yet doesn’t rob it of a comic center. He is understated, wry, and in every way a sophisticated an urban and urbane teller."  Well, that's what she has to say!

Tim Ereneta, one of the great California Fringe Festival storytellers, gives audiences something to talk about! He charms us with ancient tales of epic romances to murderous family feuds, and lets us see our modern lives through the lens of these compelling stories.

An award-winning storyteller based in Berkeley, California, Tim has performed on stages in schools, theaters, and festivals across the country. A graduate of Northwestern University's School of Communications/Theatre, Tim trained as a playwright and actor. He brings 25+ years of stage experience to his performances. For ten years of those years, he was telling stories with BATS Improv, one of San Francisco’s most popular improvisation troupes.

"Droll , funny and orginal." says The Fresno Bee.
